Try this app to transform your earbuds to noise generating earplugs. Noise Blocker is an app I designed to help you focus in noisy places like work places or coffee shops (esp. when listening to music is too distracting). Some studies show that listening to this type of noise increases deep sleep, enhances brain waves, and improves memory in subjects.
Noise Blocker sends bassy, stereo brown noise through your earbuds, causing other outside noises to gently mix in as ambient sound before hitting your ears. Note that brown noise differs from white noise: white noise sends a signal that emphasizes high treble. This is why brown noise works better than white noise -- it is bass heavy and raises the noise level for bass and treble in a uniform fashion. This will effectively block out all external noise -- even better than ear plugs would.
