Turismo La Serena is the application developed by CEDER "La Serena" to offer tourist information about this region of Badajoz (Extremadura, Spain).
La Serena is a historical region located northeast of Extremadura traditionally linked to the Military Order of Alcántara and Transhumance, where it was known as Real Dehesa de La Serena. It has been a populated territory from the Paleolithic to the present day, as witnessed by the numerous shelters of cave paintings, dolmens and megalithic monuments, the orientalizing cultures, Tartessians, Romans, Visigoths, Arabs and the Castilians who repopulated the area after the reconquest. They have all left their marks on monuments and buildings that we can visit today.
La Serena is also one of the best preserved ecosystems in Europe, with a steppe space where you can observe 10 of the 35 species of nesting birds included in the Red List of Vertebrates in Spain.
Its rich and varied gastronomy based on quality local products such as Monterrubio Virgin Olive Oil and the internationally known La Serena Cheese have the Denomination of Origin, without forgetting other products classified as such such as wines, sausages and derivatives of the Iberian pork, lamb and nougat.
We invite you to get to know this region with this application, to visit its monuments and its towns, to know the marked and approved routes that cross the territory and to plan your visit knowing where to eat and sleep.
