Block cell phone calls while driving and notify anyone who calls you via message.
The Hands on the Wheel app was developed by the Ministry of Cities with the aim of educating drivers not to use their cell phone while behind the wheel.
When downloaded and installed, the first screen immediately displays instructions on how to use and configure the application. This screen will only appear once.
To use, simply press the START button. You can choose to limit the call blocking time, according to the driver's route.
For example, if the driver knows that he will arrive at his destination in 30 minutes, he can program his cell phone to not receive calls during this period.
Anyone who calls the driver from another cell phone while he or she is driving will notice that the call will be canceled and will subsequently receive a text message informing them that the person is driving at that moment.
The message sent can be personalized by the driver, but the standard SMS is: “I'M DRIVING AT THE MOMENT. I'LL CALL YOU LATER. A message from DENATRAN.”
As for receiving SMS, the application blocks message notifications. In other words, if the driver receives a text message, they will not be notified and will be able to view it as soon as they disable the application. However, whoever sent the SMS does not receive notification that the person is driving.
