Esami di Laboratorio -
A useful reference tool for the health professions.
The results of Esami di Laboratorio significantly influence the doctor's decisions.
The influence of laboratory tests in the decision making process has grown recently thanks to instrumental technological innovations which have improved the accuracy and precision of measurements and the possibility of interpreting the results obtained by comparing them with increasingly large and detailed databases. The basis for this comparison is represented by the so-called reference intervals (or values) (RI), improperly understood as "normal values". In reality, the concept of IR needs to be considered more extensively.
Using IR, the result of an examination is generally compared transversally ("matched") with those of a population of "healthy" subjects, selected on the basis of statistical criteria as suitable for comparison.
The result of the patient in "good health" is within the IR. However, it should be noted that the results that a patient obtains at a later time will be compared not only with the IR, but also longitudinally with the previous results, as lower deviations are possible to IR, they take on the meaning of deviations to be monitored.
It is therefore extremely advantageous to have an application that, alongside the most common Esami di Laboratorio , reports the IRs and the pathological conditions that cause the variation (also including the effect of drugs).
This application can constitute a useful consultation tool for a wide target of interest in the healthcare professions and in related areas: from doctors, medical students, to healthcare and rehabilitation workers.
